News Hackers is a language intervention, written around current news stories for children and young people in upper key stage 2 / key stage 3. With News Hackers, children are supported to develop language skills important for learning, such as; listening and understanding, summarising and explaining, collaborative talk, and word learning.

Each week a News Hackers lesson is delivered to schools written around the news that week. Some of our schools use it for all pupils, taught in tutor groups, others as part of citizenship or PSHE lessons. Some use it with targeted groups of pupils who have particular difficulties with language learning. Teachers have reported good engagement from the children and have commented on their own enjoyment in delivering the range of news stories throughout the year.
